WHO:
Michael Ferrara, Senior Vice President, Customer Marketing, Coty U.S., LLC
Anne Berlack, Executive Vice President, Analytic Insights Group, Information Resources, Inc.
WHAT: There is an ever-increasing need in today’s consumer packaged goods (CPG) marketplace to maximize efforts to drive sales. This has become an increasingly difficult challenge as channels continue to blur, shoppers become more sophisticated, and “traditional shopping” trips seem to no longer exist. One area in which there seems to be little research is trip missions, specifically “quick trips.” To help the industry take a closer look at this complex issue, analytic insights and marketing experts, Anne Berlack and Michael Ferrara, will present “Understanding Quick Trips.” Berlack and Ferrara will share insights from joint research on trip missions conducted by Information Resources, Inc. and Coty, Inc.
WHY: Since 64 percent of all shopping trips are “quick trips,” retailers and manufacturers need shopper insights, so they can better understand these trip missions and drive sales. To achieve this goal, it is important to uncover the reason for a shopping trip, how a store or channel was selected, and what items were purchased. The presentation will help manufacturers and retailers leverage categories and brands that appeal to these “quick trip” shoppers.
The presentation will address such critical questions as:
- Who is the urgent need shopper?
- How can retailers use trip mission strategies to gain advantage in the marketplace?
- What are the most frequently purchased items in quick trip baskets?
- How can retailers leverage store layouts to influence quick trip shoppers?
