What's New in Apollo Designer WorkStation v4.2?

The latest version of Apollo Designer WorkStation, v4.2, available in October 2008 includes new features designed to improve productivity and accuracy of the resulting planograms:
  1. Auto Blocking (Block Drawing Support). New feature to support and simplify rules block drawing, not replace a customer’s expertise in creating acceptable blocking rules. It will simplify creating blocking rules by inferring the business rules (blocks) from the layout planogram, automatically drawing the rules blocks in the user interface, then allowing the rules to be edited and/or saved for use within the automation process.
  2. Multiple Orientations. New feature implemented to place items with the minimum front space required to allow a maximum number of items in the overall section. To achieve this, one or more placement directions (orientations) may be required.  Apollo Designer Workstation will test the various scenarios and use the combination of orientations that maximizes the number of items placed in the section.
  3. Variety Protection. New feature to improve assortment allocation will support dynamically segmenting items, ranking items within their segments, then place the highest ranked in each segment.  Building upon the current assortment allocation functionality for required and optional items, Variety Protection provides the ability to configure and automate the process to achieve the best performing planogram, while maintaining the assortment variety to meet the consumer’s demand, by category.
