CHICAGO - Nov. 7, 2005 – Information Resources, Inc., (IRI) the leading global provider of enterprise market information solutions for the consumer packaged goods (CPG), retail and healthcare industries, is again hosting the industry’s premier award program, The 2006 Global CPG & Retail Excellence Awards. The program is currently accepting applications for the awards in various categories of innovation, transformation, reinvention and improved business performance. Applications can be found at: www.infores.com/excellenceawards.
In its third year, the CPG & Retail Excellence Awards pay tribute to the CPG manufacturing and retailing companies that are leveraging new and innovative ways to see market opportunities they were unable to see before, acting faster with greater confidence, and winning at the retail shelf. These companies are successfully transforming their organizations or products through innovative, leading-edge applications of business performance management, consumer and shopper insights, or technology.
Past winners of the CPG & Retail Excellence Awards include such distinguished companies as 7-Eleven, CVS, Food Lion, Kraft, PepsiCo, McNeil Nutritionals, and Wyeth Consumer Healthcare.
Winners of the 2006 CPG & Retail Excellence Awards will be selected from five categories:
- Business Transformation of the Year - highlighting achievements of a company that has transformed or reinvented itself or one of its brands to achieve significantly improved revenue, reduced costs or increased efficiencies.
- Consumer or Competitive Insights Reinvention of the Year – recognizing the company with the corporate commitment to develop best-in-class consumer, shopper, competitor, retailer or brand understanding throughout its enterprise, through the application of innovative new research methods or creative application of existing ones, to deliver improved ROI.
- CPG Manufacturer Innovation of the Year – acknowledging the CPG manufacturer that has created innovative strategies or technologies, to address evolving consumer attitudes, preferences and behaviors, to improve performance.
- CPG Retailer Innovation of the Year - honoring the retailer that has successfully created innovative strategies or technologies, focused on addressing evolving retail execution issues and/or improving the in-store shopping experience, to improve performance.
- Chairman’s Award – a special award bestowed by IRI and Symphony Technology Group Chairman, Dr. Romesh Wadhwani, honoring creativity, the willingness to take risks, achievement of measurable results and breakthrough learnings for the entire industry.
“In today’s complex marketplace, innovation is the key for CPG manufacturers and retailers to be profitable,” said IRI President and CEO Scott W. Klein. “Many companies are hitting exactly the right note in this area and this unique industry award program honors those forward thinking companies that are leading the charge towards improved performance in a new era of retailing.”
The awards are judged by an independent third-party panel of distinguished industry thought leaders and experts, including members from AMR Research, a recognized leader in CPG and retail research; Consumer Goods Technology Magazine, a leading source for CPG executives on technology and business performance issues; and Racher Press, Inc., publisher of Chain Drug Review and MMR - Mass Market Retailers magazines. The applications will be judged on several criteria, including: 1.) overall quality of the awards application, 2.) program depth and breadth, 3.) time to value, 4.) innovation, and 5.) overall benefits received.
The awards will be presented at a gala dinner in San Francisco, Calif., on Feb. 28, 2006. The ceremony will be part of IRI’s “CPG & Retail Summit 2006,” a world-class global conference, which attracts visionaries and passionate leaders in the retail and CPG industries.
