IRI Acquires Outstanding Ownership of Mosaic InfoForce In-Store Audit Service

New In-store Solutions Group to Deliver Complete View of Retail Conditions for the CPG industry
Chicago – April 19, 2005 – As part of its ongoing focus to expand its retail execution and in-store insights capabilities, IRI has acquired the outstanding ownership of Mosaic InfoForce, L.P. (MIF). MIF is a principal supplier of in-store audits, measuring perimeter merchandising, display, shelf, and front-end store conditions across all classes of trade. MIF, a joint venture between IRI and the Mosaic Group, Inc., is a leading provider of in-store data collection and retail audit services, which collects information on in-store conditions and provides solutions to manufacturer challenges.

“This acquisition was made to expand our capabilities to deliver industry-leading retail performance management solutions, creating the unique ability to tightly align our new daily data-based monitoring solutions with powerful in store observations. This solution creates a unique and powerful global retail performance management solution—daily data, analytics, store audit, and decision support—that no other vendor offers to the market today. Clients will have vastly improved visibility into store conditions in time to quickly address issues impacting performance—out of stock situations, inconsistent trade promotion programs, new product distribution gaps, inventory on hand, and other challenges. IRI plans to expand the current solution to service the global marketplace.

Historically, MIF has been a leading supplier of in-store audits in the U.S., measuring perimeter merchandising, display, shelf and front-end store conditions across all classes of trade.  IRI’s acquisition of MIF will allow the company to further develop these capabilities, enabling the company to deliver the next generation of in-store audit and shopper services required by today’s CPG manufacturers and retailers.

Audit services provide a critical perspective for buyers and sellers in CPG looking to dramatically improve retail performance.  In-store audits enable manufacturers to effectively collaborate with their retail customers, monitor promotion effectiveness, and ultimately measure their impact at the individual consumer level.

As part of its strategy to globalize IRI’s content operations, the former MIF will be integrated into IRI’s Content Operations Group, reporting to its President, Mark Parise. It will be renamed the IRI In-store Solutions Group (ISG) to represent the new business vision and strategy.
